Ratings for Mark Ryan Winery

If you haven’t tried Mark Ryan’s wines, you’re missing out! They continue to receive top accolades from Wine Advocate …

Lead by the young, incredibly talented Mike Macmorran, the team at Mark Ryan Winery is making some of the most exciting wines coming out of Washington State. They make a lot of cuvees (too many, really), but quantities are tiny for the top releases (most are less than 200 cases) and the quality is superb across the board. Truthfully, Mike may be one of the most talented winemakers in the state and readers need to try some of these wines!

Ratings for Trisaetum

• Trisaetum 2014 Wichmann Dundee Estate Riesling

#3 on the Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 List! (95 Points)

Details of tea leaf, peach skin and pear introduce a wine with tremendous texture and length. The off-dry sweetness is counterbalanced by tart acidity, creating perfect tension and continuing into a lingering, satisfying finish. As with all these young wines, this will improve dramatically with ample aeration. Editors’ Choice.” –P.G.

Another Top 100 Wine!

• Trisaetum 2013 Ribbon Ridge Estate Riesling

Rated #11 on their 2014 Top 100 List, 94 Points and Editor’s Choice.

Both the dry and off-dry Ribbon Ridge Rieslings our outstanding — no need to pick a favorite. Here is an elegant, sophisticated mix of stone fruits, mineral, sweet fruit sugar and bracing acidity. The overall balance, tension and complexity are superb.” — P.G.

Alexandria Nicole Wines Receive Platinum Ratings!

Four of Alexandria Nicole’s wineries received platinum scores this year and were recognized as 1 of only 15 wineries to have won 10+ Platinum medals in the competitions 16 year history.

Here are the platinum winning wines in Oeno’s portfolio.

• Alexandria Nicole Cellars 2014 “Crawford” Viognier, Columbia Valley • Platinum

Nearly all of Jarrod Boyle’s wines come from his estate grapes in the Horse Heaven Hills, but this is an exception, as the relatively cooler lower Yakima Valley is a great location to grow Viognier, as this wine reveals. Aromas of mint and white peach give way to flavors of orange and juicy peach. Hints of lemon zest and mint provide additional complexity on the finish. (1,096 cases; 13.4% alc.) Medals: Great Northwest Wine Competition (Gold), Savor Northwest (Double gold/best of class)

• Alexandria Nicole Cellars 2012 “Alderdale” Cabernet Sauvignon, Destiny Ridge Vineyard, Horse Heaven Hills • – Platinum

There’s a reason some of the largest plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon in Washington are in and around the tiny community of Alderdale in the southern Horse Heaven Hills: It might just be the sweet spot for the noble red wine in Washington. This example is loaded with aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, violet, chocolate, black tea and a bouquet of roses. (443 cases; 14.6% alc.) Medal: San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (Double gold)

More proof that New York’s Finger Lakes region produces, overall, the best Rieslings in the United States.
