Alexandria Nicole Wines Receive Platinum Ratings!

Four of Alexandria Nicole’s wineries received platinum scores this year and were recognized as 1 of only 15 wineries to have won 10+ Platinum medals in the competitions 16 year history.

Here are the platinum winning wines in Oeno’s portfolio.

• Alexandria Nicole Cellars 2014 “Crawford” Viognier, Columbia Valley • Platinum

Nearly all of Jarrod Boyle’s wines come from his estate grapes in the Horse Heaven Hills, but this is an exception, as the relatively cooler lower Yakima Valley is a great location to grow Viognier, as this wine reveals. Aromas of mint and white peach give way to flavors of orange and juicy peach. Hints of lemon zest and mint provide additional complexity on the finish. (1,096 cases; 13.4% alc.) Medals: Great Northwest Wine Competition (Gold), Savor Northwest (Double gold/best of class)

• Alexandria Nicole Cellars 2012 “Alderdale” Cabernet Sauvignon, Destiny Ridge Vineyard, Horse Heaven Hills • – Platinum

There’s a reason some of the largest plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon in Washington are in and around the tiny community of Alderdale in the southern Horse Heaven Hills: It might just be the sweet spot for the noble red wine in Washington. This example is loaded with aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, violet, chocolate, black tea and a bouquet of roses. (443 cases; 14.6% alc.) Medal: San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (Double gold)

The Finger Lakes region produces choice wines, which can be a model for Minnesota vintners

Bill Ward

Those of us dwelling in Tundraland could be forgiven for developing a bit of an inferiority complex about New York. No matter how rich our lives are, it can be hard to escape the notion that New York does it better. Architecture, fashion, restaurants, baseball — all realms in which Minnesota can prove formidable — often remind us that we still have a ways to go.
